Sometimes, Luck is all you need. Only three months ago the industry news reported about the amazing new find – Rio Tinto unearthed a 12.76 carat pink diamond from the Argyle diamond mine. The diamond was the biggest of its kind that was found in this area. This is amazing on its own since the argyle diamond mine is responsible for about 90% of the world’s pink diamonds.

It was named Argyle Pink Jubilee and was estimated to be sold for over $12,000,000 – over 1 million dollars per carat.

The diamond was designated to go on a 10 days cutting and polishing and then to start it’s world tour.

Unfortunately, according to the West Australian, after the polishing process of this remarkable pink diamond has started they discovered severe inclusions reducing it’s worth dramatically.

Rio Tinto has decided to donate this rare find, which is now 8 carats, to Museum Victoria. According to Museum Victoria Rio Tinto has a long tradition of donating diamonds to the museum.

Make no mistakes, this diamond is still extremely valuable and Rio Tinto deserve a lot of credit for their donation.
