Natural Fancy Pink Diamonds

Argyle Pink Diamond Argyle Pink Diamond

Natural Fancy Pink Diamonds are extremely rare. It is said that for every 1 million carat of rough white diamonds only 1 carat will be defined as fancy pink.

Pink Diamonds - Where do they come from?

Over 90% of pink diamonds are mined from the Argyle mine in Australia. And even within the Argyle mine (which specializes in pink diamonds), less than 1% of the diamonds are pinks.

Pink diamonds are considered type II diamonds. Their color is due to a process called Plastic Deformation. This deformation occurs during the crystal growth.

Due to the rarity of pink diamonds it’s important to insist on buying only a certified pink diamond from trusted and registered dealers.

Prices of Pink Diamonds

Like with other colored diamonds, pink diamonds come in various intensities. In colored diamonds the color aspect has the greatest effect on the diamonds pricing - and especially in rare colors such as pink. Most of the pink diamonds are fancy light pink diamonds, but there are the beautiful fancy pink diamonds and the extremely rare deep pink diamond, vivid pink diamond and intense pink diamond.

Since natural pink diamonds are extremely rare, they were always favored by investors and collectors - showing an increase in value over time. A 1 carat natural pink diamond can easily cost over $100,000.

Pink Diamonds and Celebrities

Even though the pink colored diamond was always precious and desired, it received special attention once Ben Affleck proposed Jennifer Lopez with a 6 carat diamond engagement ring.
David Beckham also gave his wife, Victoria, a $1.8 Million dollar pink diamond ring as an apology.
It immediately became a fashion item every woman wants to get and every man wants to give.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a pair of Pink diamond earrings or a pink diamond engagement ring, you will be noticed.
