A Natural Fancy Green Diamond is nearly impossible to find. The green color of green diamonds is a result of natural exposure to radioactivity. This is why it is very difficult to determine whether a green diamond is a natural green diamond or treated. The Green Diamond is priced according to its rarity - it is one of the most expensive colored diamonds.
Usually you will be able to find the green diamond in combination with a secondary color. Examples to the unique colored diamond color combinations are: Yellow Green Diamond, Greenish Gray Diamond, Brownish Greenish Yellow Diamond.
Like all fancy colored diamonds the green diamond comes in various color intensities. From the Fancy Light Green Diamond to the more common Fancy Green Diamond and Fancy Dark Green Diamond. If you are lucky, you can even find the beautiful and rare Vivid Green Diamond and Intense green Diamond. Peled Diamonds sells only certified Natural Green Diamonds. The Dresden Green Diamond is the most famous green diamond. The Dresden Green Diamond weighs approx. 41 carats (about 8.2 grams!). It has historical records going back to 1722. It was named after the city of Dresden Germany (the capital of Saxony) where it has been displayed for the last two centuries. The strong Green Color is like with all natural green diamonds (see above) caused due to natural exposure to radioactive materials.
