Brown Diamonds are very popular due to the wide color combinations and relatively affordable prices. They are mined in Australia, Africa and Siberia.
Among the popular beautiful color combinations you can find the pinkish brown diamond, the yellowish brown diamond (often called Champagne Diamond), the Greenish Orangy Brown Diamond (aka Cognac Diamond) and the Pure Dark Brown Diamond (Chocolate Diamond).
For many years the brown diamonds were considered inferior to other colored diamonds. However due to their amazing colors, affordable prices and new branding they rose back. Their color combinations earned them several different names over the years. As mentioned above, there are the dark brown diamonds which are often referred as chocolate diamonds these with a yellowish brown tone (even pinkish) are called champagne diamonds. But what is important to know that the official name is still brown diamonds. When looking at the GIA certificate the only color description you would see is the brown diamond. There might be and might not be a secondary hue but the official color remains brown.
